It has been a long time since any news was posted on the site, but that time has not been wasted. ‘Super Spook Keys’ and ‘String Thing 2’ are both now available for download. The original ‘Spook Keys’ and ‘String Thing’ are still available for download. In addition to this two new products will soon be available; ‘Bowin’ a bowed string synth and ‘Cathedral’ a virtual pipe organ (both synths use a hybrid analog and physical modelling engine and are near to completion). Go to the VSTi page to download ‘Super Spook Keys’ and ‘String Thing 2’.

No news for such a long time as life has been so very busy but here is a little something until something bigger comes along. Due to many requests a new version of spook keys is available that does not spring the x/y control down to the start position when the mouse is released. Unfortunately I don't have a single version where the option can be switched on or off yet (working on it) but until I do this should at least go some way to pleasing the people who wanted a little more control over the theramin like goodness. Click the link below to download or get both versions from the vsti page.

The Silkworm is now officially available for free download from the VSTi page.
The Silkworm is a supersaw style synth, which is extremely easy to program and includes a few very nice features of its own.

You can use silkworm to create fat pads, basses and leads and screaming or cutting lead and bass sounds, together with rhythmic, gated sounds.
A range of exciting audio demos that resulted from a contest I set up up on a KVR forum can be found on the mp3 page.
Go grab the silkworm now from the VSTi page.

Well, it has been quiet around here for some time, but now it is finally time to make some noise again...
Say hello to voc-one, the analogue choir. This is an analogue synthesizer, which uses a simple dual oscillator (detuned for chorus effects) pulse wave synth to simulate a glottal pulse and passes it through a morphable formant filter bank to simulate a wide range of vocal soaunds.

It is capable of recreating a number of choir and solo vocal sounds with a tonal quality similar to the choir sounds found on many of Tomita's classical albums.
Oh, and it's free, so go grab your copy now from the VSTi page.

Retro-gs01
- the retro gamer's synth is now available for download. This
synth, while not a direct emulation of specific hardware aims
to capture the raw and energetic sound of the renowned MOS6581
Sound Interface Device chip, known to its fans simply as SID.

Where
most SID based synth projects have attempted to accurately emulate
the SID chip in detail, retro-gs01 takes a different approach.
The architecture of the synth uses the same routing as SID and
ranges for the envelopes, oscillators and filters have been matched
- what is more, all the official features of SID's synthesis have
been included, but the digital oscillators of SID have not been
reproduced. Why? Because every single SID chip has a slightly
different sound quality, it is impossible to re-produce a perfect
copy of them all, so rather than concentrate on producing a perfect
copy of the hardware, retro-gs01 represents a perfect copy of
the raw and powerful SID sound.
It
can play as a single voice or in a dual voice unison mode and
can be switched between mono and 8 note polyphonic settings. It
includes 2 LFOs, which can be used to control a massive range
of parameters, a variable speed sample and hold for the LFO, 2
envelopes (with timings that match those of the SID chip) per
voice, sync, ring modulation and 4 different 12db filter types.
The interface offers direct access to every parameter and smart
controls give you a clear indication of all your settings.
Although
it may not perfectly copy a SID chip, retro-gs01 can re-create
any sound that SID can and more. Not just a powerful and versatile
retro synth, but a powerful virtual-analog synth in its own right.
The full version is available at a special introductory cost of
just £12.50 and features 64 presets plus room for 64 more,
plus the added bonus of retro-gs02 - a specially designed analog
drum machine to perfectly compliment retro-gs01.
The
demo version of retrogs-01 can be downoaded now from the VSTi
page and audio demos of both retro-gs01 and retro-gs02 can be
found on the MP3 page of the music section - the only limitations
in the demo are that there are only 16 presets and there is a
short burst of noise played roughly every 30 seconds. The download
is small so please give it a try and as always we would love to
hear from you and know what you think. A link to purchase the
full version can also be found on the vsti page.

Links to sf2
(sound font) files have been fixed, it should now be possible
to download them. Although they are in zipped files they have
still also been compressed with sfpack so this will still be needed
to extract the files. Sorry for any inconvenience.
